You prioritize your wellness, and so do we. That's why at Peach IV, we employ only Registered Nurses (RNs) for our mobile IV therapy services in New York. Many mobile IV drip providers might staff EMTs or LPNs, but we’ve made a deliberate choice to raise the bar. Our RN-only policy ensures you receive hospital-grade care in the comfort of your home, with an emphasis on safety, expertise, and a superior wellness experience. Below, we explain the unique value of having an RN administer your IV therapy and how it benefits you.

Every Peach IV infusion is administered by a fully licensed RN. This means a highly trained nursing professional is by your side for the entire treatment, from start to finish. RNs carry state licensure and adhere to strict medical standards, brining a level of clinical oversight that's unparalleled in the mobile wellness industry.

In fact, reputable mobile IV providers emphasize using "licensed and experienced healthcare professionals" and maintaining "a sterile environment during the setup and administration of IVs" to ensure client safety. By staffing only RNs, Peach IV goes above and beyond in meeting these best practices.

The Peach IV Difference: Why Training Matters

Why not EMTs or LPNs? While Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs/paramedics) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are valuable healthcare providers in their respective fields, their training and scope of practice differ from that of RNs.

Paramedics typically undergo about 1-2 years of training focused on emergency, whereas RNs complete 2–4 years of comprehensive nursing education to earn their degrees. LPN programs are shorter (often 12–18 months) and geared toward basic nursing tasks, whereas RNs follow a more extensive educational path (often requiring a bachelor’s degree for advanced roles.

In short, RNs receive a deeper clinical foundation in anatomy, pharmacology, critical thinking, and patient management than EMTs or LPNs. This broader knowledge and skill set make a real difference when it comes to the quality of IV therapy you receive.

Advanced Training = Enhanced Safety and Skill

Choosing RN-only staffing is fundamentally about safety and quality of care.

RNs are trained to perform:

  • detailed patient assessments
  • start and monitor IV infusions
  • handle any issues or emergencies that might arise during treatment
  • have experience in recognizing and managing complications such as infiltration, allergic reactions, or other side effects.

By contrast, LPNs in New York are required to work under RN or physician supervision when providing IV therapy, and there are certain IV procedures and clinical judgments that LPNs are not permitted to perform on their own. In fact, state nursing guidelines explicitly list IV tasks that are beyond the LPN scope of practice and cannot be performed by an LPN regardless of training or supervision.

What does this mean for you as a client? It means an RN can independently deliver the full spectrum of IV care you might need, without limitations. An RN has the authority and expertise to adjust IV flow rates, add medications per protocol, or initiate critical interventions if necessary, all on the spot, without waiting for another overseer. This agility can be crucial for your safety and comfort.

Moreover, RNs excel at critical thinking and on-the-fly decision making. They are educated to not just perform tasks, but also to interpret vital signs, evaluate your overall condition, and ensure the IV treatment is appropriate for your health status.

By having an RN attend to you, you’re essentially getting a mini check-up during your IV session. If there’s anything in your history or symptoms that raises a red flag, an RN will recognize it and can adapt the treatment or suggest next steps.

This level of clinical judgement is something that comes with advanced nursing training and cannot be substituted.

Quality Care and Professionalism You Can Trust

At Peach IV, we understand that inviting a health practitioner into your home for a wellness treatment requires a high level of trust. By sending only RNs to your door, we aim to earn that trust through professionalism and expertise. Registered Nurses are held to the highest standards of patient care. They must pass a national licensure exam (the NCLEX-RN) and meet ongoing education requirements to maintain their license. They also abide by a strict code of ethics and clinical protocols designed to protect patients. All of this translates into a more professional, medical-grade experience for you.

From verifying your identity and reviewing your health history, to using meticulous sterile techniques during insertion, an RN will ensure that every step of the IV therapy process is done correctly and safely.

Additionally, our RNs bring hospital-level skill to a wellness setting. Most have backgrounds in acute care settings like emergency rooms or ICUs, meaning they’ve successfully started countless IVs and managed patients in far more critical situations. They carry that experience into each appointment, so you can feel at ease. As one industry expert notes, mobile IV therapy is typically performed by licensed professionals precisely to “bring hospital-level care into the comfort of one’s home". That is exactly what our RN team does. They arrive with the expertise and calm confidence of someone who has handled all sorts of medical scenarios. You’ll not only get a vitamin infusion, but also the peace of mind that you’re in capable, caring hands.

Commitment to Excellence in Wellness

Our RN-only staffing policy is part of Peach IV’s larger commitment to excellence in wellness services. We believe that optimal wellness is achieved when clients receive safe, effective treatments administered with clinical precision and compassion. By investing in top-tier nursing staff, we invest in your health and satisfaction.

The difference is clear: an RN’s advanced training and holistic patient-care approach means your IV therapy is not just a quick procedure, but a personalized care experience. Your nurse can answer questions, tailor the drip to your needs, monitor your response, and ensure you’re comfortable throughout. This is the level of service we consider acceptable for our clients and our loved ones alike.

In summary, Peach IV’s RN-only policy ensures that every mobile IV therapy session in New York meets the highest standards of safety, skill, and service. Our registered nurses' extensive training, broad scope of practice, and dedication to patient care all work together to give you an outstanding wellness treatment. We respect the contributions of EMTs and LPNs in healthcare; however, when it comes to your IV therapy, we refuse to settle for anything less than the gold standard of care. With Peach IV, you can relax and rehydrate with confidence, knowing a qualified RN is there to take care of you every step of the way.

FAQs

Do you have to be a nurse to do mobile IV?

Not necessarily—but you should be. In many states, including New York, mobile IV therapy can legally be performed by EMTs or LPNs under specific protocols and supervision. However, that doesn’t mean it’s the safest or most clinically sound option. At Peach IV, we require all providers to be Registered Nurses (RNs) because they are licensed to independently assess, administer, and manage IV therapy without oversight, which translates to better, safer care for you.

What qualifications do you need to give IV drips?

This depends on the provider’s license and the state’s regulations. EMTs, LPNs, and RNs may all be trained in IV insertion, but only RNs are typically allowed to independently evaluate your health, push medications, and handle complications without direct supervision. RNs are also trained to educate patients, adjust care plans on the fly, and escalate care when needed—making them the gold standard for mobile IV delivery.

How does RN training compare to EMTs and LPNs?

RNs: 2–4 years of formal nursing education (associate or bachelor’s degree), plus national licensure via the NCLEX-RN. EMTs: ~6–12 months of training focused on emergency response and transport. LPNs: ~12–18 months of education focused on task-based nursing, with limited IV autonomy and required supervision in most states.

What happens if something goes wrong during an IV session?

If you're with an RN, you’re in safe hands. RNs are trained to recognize adverse reactions early, respond quickly to complications like infiltration, syncope, or allergic responses, and escalate appropriately. EMTs and LPNs, especially without in-person supervision, aren’t equipped to handle these events with the same level of autonomy or depth of training. With Peach IV, you always have someone clinically prepared for the unexpected.

Why are you so mean to EMTs and LPNs?

Fair question, but this isn't about disrespecting EMTs or LPNS. They are absolutely essential to healthcare- Myself and most RNs have deep respect for what they do. EMTs save lives in emergencies. LPNs provide vital hands-on care, especially in long-term settings. But the point here isn't about worth, it's about scope of practice, training depth, and independent decision-making in a mobile medical setting. In mobile IV therapy, you're not in a hospital surrounded by resources. You're in a home or hotel room, possibly feeling faint, nauseous, or unsure of your vitals. If something goes sideways, you want someone who can immediately assess, intervene, and escalate, without needing remote supervision or a call for backup. RNs are trained and legally empowered to do exactly that.
